3/1/16 Director's Notes

1.1
* Grand drape--follow your cue--operator should be the same every night
* Ensemble--more audience interaction on entrance--interact with each other
* Choir in front of the apron or on stage? If on stage, will be hit by actors/curtain if exit SR

1.2
* Pink Ladies--quicker entrance once we transition to that scene
* Rock/Paper/Scissors--only play when T-Birds are talking; otherwise pulls focus from Pink Ladies dialogue
* After seeing Sandy first time, Danny don't take quite so long recognizing her or trying to act cool in front of T-birds; pace is slow and needs to be regular/fast on that moment; not lines quicker, time in between

1.2-->1.3
* Scene shift--actors need to exit UL stairs so crew can get table/chairs from DL
* traffic jam w/crew if exit SL

1.3
* Jackson show Tristan chords C, A minor, F, G7

1.3-->1.4
* Scene shift run crew--is this the same 4 person team as last time?
* Bed unit was 2 feet too far SL
* looked like each person did not have an assigned corner to move wagon unit; should be same shift choreography

1.4
* Bottle needs water; actors actually look like you are drinking
* Do not leave bottle on top of shelf **Danger**; put it back under the bed
* Find your light
* Rizzo--must put on pants & shirt OVER pajamas; once exit SL, use the time to do costume change since you have Greased L to change

1.5
* No velociraptor arms during Greased Lightning

1.6
* Band-air on ear? If so, needs to be large so audience can see it
* Pacing was slow; needs to be faster
* COSTUME: Patty needs a longer skirt, if possible

1.7
* Picnic move SR more
* Find your light
* Coke/burger--Roger/Jan take it with you; weird it's still there for the fight, etc. (Thank you Frenchy for moving it)
* Sandy--make sure you have underskirt coverage for the fight tumble
* Rizzo/Danny--sit on the blanket
* "We Go Tog." 1st group could be bigger; movement felt half energy

2.1
* Too slow to start Act Two once House lights were out; needs to be immediate
* Raining soloists--Be as far US as poss. (find your light) & practice your choreo
* Vince--hand out of pocket; good energy
* Spot Ops--add for all lines as rehearsed after run through; need to help audience focus on who is speaking
* Vince--stand close to Marty
* SOUND--make sure Marty's mic is on when Vince speaks next to her
* ChaCha/Eugene--same as Vince/Marty re: mic
* Ms. Lynch music intro missing
* Spot Ops--Hit mirror ball; look at where barrel is pointing; practice that effect
* Slow dance couples at end--slower to exit; plenty of song; don't rush exit
* Sandy--wait a verse before you take off robe and start to walk to steps; plenty of song; don't rush it

2.2
* Danny--very late entrance; what happened?
* T-birds--good cover, but that shouldn't happen again
* Danny--relay baton? cig? where were the props?
* Coltraine--turn on mic? SOUND--new batteries?
* T-birds--do NOT pull shirt over Roger's head since we have pants; only de-pants

2.3
* Go in for Kiss not rough her up; trying to make out not other
* Back up--begin step touch on "Tear drops"
* Back up--Exit SR unless you are a T-bird; T-birds exit SL X DL into basement scene for quicker transition

2.4
* Records for record player? Use the props
* Spot Q--Rizzo/Marty on steps
* Sandy--project line to Frenchy "Can you come over...."; spoken US so was lost; Frenchy come down farther so Sandy faces DS not US

2.5
* Slap of Patty HAS TO BE COVERED; must face US/DS so we don't see the set up/nap
* Males--react to being stripped of leather and "forced" to wear pink jackets then okay w/it
* Sandy/Danny--Go CS once Patty XSL so we see Sandy ask Patty to come w/them

ACTORS:
* FIND YOUR LIGHT; the light doesn't move; it's set for where you are supposed to be; bodies move; these lights do not; find your light
* Project--mic can only increase what volume you give it so project
* Curtain call adjustment: Gesture to orchestra; Crew SL;  Crew Balcony; Crew HL
* Keep doors closed after Beauty School; Green Room doors closed too OR no more G.R. = silent hall
* Head dresses need to be moved to the auditorium after the show, even if you aren't in that number that night; ones left behind: Sophie, Silver, Sam, Sam + Katie (why are there 2?), Teyah, Rory, Olivia F, Karolina, Liz, Audrey + 6 w/no names inside (if you don't have one, put your name on the ones that are blank)

CREW:
* See notes above for specifics
* White t-shirt, jeans, ked-like shoes
* You must check in/out w/SM; if your job isn't done, you must stay to do it (ex: costume crew didn't stay & remaining racks/head pieces weren't put away)

STAGE MANAGERS:
* Tape pulling down on apron; fix it
* sweep/mop stage daily
* check everything before you leave
* you are the first to arrive; last to leave
* need to have ALL crew check in and out with you
* all crew checking out must not leave until their job is done/area is clean
* Need SM kit list--what's missing
